Susan Hatfield | NMLS #58306

Susan Hatfield has worked in various positions within the financial and mortgage industry since 1997. However, 2003 became the most pivotal point in her career when her focus shifted exclusively to helping clients obtain home financing. Susan understands the value and importance of homeownership and is passionate about helping others achieve that dream. Through her years of experience, she has learned to recognize the individual needs of each client and guide them toward a mortgage plan that best benefits them financially. She often says one of the most rewarding aspects of her career is helping clients achieve long-term financial success.

Susan’s journey with Benchmark Mortgage began in January 2014 as a Mortgage Planner in Richmond, Kentucky. She was drawn to Benchmark’s core values — Success, Positive Attitude, Relationships, Excellence, and Dynamic — which strongly align with her client focused approach. Throughout her career with Benchmark, Susan has been recognized multiple times for embodying these values. She received the “Positive Attitude” and “Success” Core Value Awards at the local level and, in 2016, was honored with the corporate-level “Excellence” Core Value Award during Benchmark’s Production Trip in Miami, Florida. Susan is also recognized as one of the top 1% loan officers in the country within Benchmark Mortgage. In 2017, she was selected to speak at Todd Duncan’s Sales Mastery Conference in San Diego, California, a nationally recognized conference focused on mortgage and real estate professionals. In 2021, she received the corporate-level “Relationship” Core Value Award.

Susan’s favorite part of being a Mortgage Planner is building meaningful relationships with her clients, something she strives to instill in her children, Jacob and Sara. Together with her husband, Paul, their growing family enjoys serving the community and church through volunteer efforts such as Home Meal Delivery, God’s Outreach Food Pantry, the Madison County Backpack Program, and many other local outreach projects. Susan also enjoys spending time with her grandchild and cherishes watching her family continue to grow.

Individually, Susan is actively involved in the Berea Heritage Homeschool Co-op and has served in numerous leadership and volunteer roles, including Sunday School Teacher, Women’s Ministry Leader, PTA member, and site-based council member for Madison County Schools. She continually looks for ways to incorporate the spirit of giving into both her workplace and community. Susan also leads a morning women’s Bible study in her office, hosts a monthly book club, and organizes several educational Lunch and Learn programs throughout the year.

Susan also remains active within the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and has established her office as a trusted resource for financial and mortgage planning throughout the region through years of intentional relationship building and community involvement.

While Susan enjoys setting and achieving goals each year, her true passion remains educating and serving people within her community. Providing exceptional customer service, building lasting relationships, and helping families navigate the homebuying process with confidence continue to be the foundation of her work year after year.
